Christy Chen, MD

Dr. Christy Chen is a double Board-Certified Internist and Geriatrician who specializes in outpatient primary care, chronic disease management, and dementia care. She is a member of the Senior Service Program at the Mayo Clinic, serving long-term care facilities and homebound patients across Olmsted County, Minnesota.

Dr. Chen serves as the program director for the Mayo Medical Senior Sage’s program, core curriculum director for the Geriatrics Fellowship program, and co-director of the annual Care of the Older Adult CME conference. She received a BS in Biology and Physiology from Michigan State University, received her Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University, and attended University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria for her internal medicine residency.

Committed to ongoing achievement and education, Dr. Chen earned a certificate from Cornell’s Executive Women in Leadership Program. She served as medical editor for the latest edition of “Mayo Clinic on Healthy Aging: An Easy and Comprehensive Guide to Keeping Your Body Young, Your Mind Sharp and Your Spirit Fulfilled” (2024). She is a member of the American Geriatrics Society and serves as an advisor to the Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association and HealthyWomen.org. She also hosts a podcast, “Aging Forward,” focused on healthy aging and Geriatric medicine.

Dr. Chen is on a mission to transform dementia care through integration of health technology and other innovative solutions. Her recent work has focused on implementing novel, evidence-based technologies into the memory care space for those with advanced dementia.
